The Wairarapa College 1st XV played their final preseason match against a classy Manukura team and lost 14-47 in a very physical and tough game.

Manukura looked sharp from the kickoff and piled the pressure on the Wairarapa College line. Wairarapa College adsorbed the relentless attack from Manukura and only conceded two converted penalties to trail 6-0 after 25 minutes. A few unforced errors with Wairarapa struggling to exit from their own half provided Manukura with a few chances for more points and they converted, scoring 2 tries before the half time whistle. Manukura leads 18-0 at half time.

Wairarapa rang the changes at halftime replacing the whole backline to try different combinations leading into next week. It was more of the same in the second with Manukura backs showing pace, power and skill to score 3 more tries while Wairarapa answered with two of their own. Wairarapa still has a lot to do before the official season starts on Saturday with a lot of lessons learnt in the 14-47 defeat.
